EM117 is  Ceftriaxone / Ceftriaxone + Clavulanic acid Ezy MIC™ Strips. These are specialized diagnostic tools used for the phenotypic detection of Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) producing organisms.
Core Product Features
Antibiotic Combination: The strip is divided into two halves: one side is coated with a gradient of Ceftriaxone (CTR) and the other with Ceftriaxone plus Clavulanic acid (CTR+).
MIC Determination: It allows for the simultaneous determination of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) for both the antibiotic alone and in combination with an inhibitor.
Design: Unlike traditional plastic strips, these are made of a thin, porous paper material that adheres to the agar surface within 60 seconds without forming air bubbles.
Scaling: The MIC reading scale is printed identically on both sides of the strip for easier interpretation through translucent media like Mueller Hinton Agar.
Usage and Application
1. Detection: A significant reduction in the MIC of Ceftriaxone in the presence of Clavulanic acid (typically a ≥3-log2 dilution drop) indicates the presence of ESBL enzymes.
2. Specimen Type: Designed for use with pure cultures derived from clinical samples such as blood, urine, or pus.
3. Procedure: Strips must be at room temperature before application. They are placed on an inoculated agar plate using a specialized applicator and incubated overnight.
