The LA881, also known as the HiAirflow™ is a professional microbial air sampler. It is designed for the quantitative detection of airborne microorganisms in high-standard environments like cleanrooms, pharmaceutical plants, and hospitals.
Core Functionality
The device operates on the sieve impaction principle, drawing air through a perforated sampling head at a constant velocity.
• Sampling Method: Airborne contaminants are impacted directly onto the surface of a standard 90 mm Petri dish filled with culture media.
• Cleanroom Integration: It is frequently paired with the LA1148 diffuser attachment to test the quality of compressed air and gases (such as nitrogen or argon) while maintaining required flow rates.
• Compliance: The system is designed to meet ISO 14698 standards and USP chapter <1116> recommendations. It also includes software compliant with 21 CFR Part 11 for secure data logging.
Technical Specifications
• Flow Rates: Features adjustable flow settings, often cited at 100 litres per minute (L/min) or ranges between 30–120 L/min.
• Programmable Volume: Users can program a total sample volume from 1 to 2000 litres in 1-litre increments.
• Battery Life: Powered by rechargeable NiMH batteries providing approximately 4 to 8 hours of continuous operation when fully charged.
• Data Management: Features an internal memory capable of storing up to 99 sampling records and a USB port for PC data transfer.
• Physical Build: The unit is lightweight (approx. 1.8 kg) and features an autoclavable anodized aluminium sampling head.
